Luppi Antenor briefly held the rank of Sexta Espada, taking the number after Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez lost an arm and was demoted. He is young-looking, cruel, and enormously pleased with himself, and his entire arc is built around how short the promotion turns out to be.

His release, Trepadora, gives him eight tentacles that extend across a city block, and he uses them to hold off three lieutenants and a captain at once during the second invasion of Karakura Town. Tōshirō Hitsugaya cannot get past them. It is a genuinely strong showing, and the series lets it run long enough that the reversal lands properly.

Grimmjow comes back with his arm restored and kills him in a single Cero, with no fight, no exchange and no acknowledgement beyond taking his number back. Luppi's last expression is confusion. Mayuri Kurotsuchi later digs him up for the 12th Division's Corpse Unit, so he returns during the Wandenreich war to fight Giselle Gewelle's zombies, still complaining that he was promised a better opponent than the one he was given.
